Report: Bucs visiting with CB Mike Jenkins

TAMPA — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers haven’t given up on their search for a third cornerback to work with projected starters Alterraun Verner and Johnthan Banks.

After missing on Charles Tillman, who re-signed with the Bears, and Captain Munnerlyn, who signed with the Vikings, the Bucs are visiting today with former South Florida standout Mike Jenkins, according to a Twitter post by Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports.

Jenkins, 29, started 15 games for the Raiders last year, recording 65 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble. He spent his first five pro seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, producing eight interceptions.

There was speculation in 2008 the Bucs might target Jenkins as a possible first-round selection, but the team chose Aqib Talb with the 20th overall pick, leaving Jenkins to go to the Cowboys at No. 25.

The Bucs are looking to improve their depth at cornerback where D.J. Moore, Leonard Johnson and Danny Gorrer are the top reserves behind Verner and Banks.
