TAMPA — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly turning their college scouting department over to the man who for the last five years has run that department for the New England Patriots.
Though the Bucs were not prepared to officially announce the hiring Wednesday, the team is expected to name Jon Robinson their new director of college scouting, according to a report by Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.
The move will reunite Robinson with Bucs general manager Jason Licht, who as a national scout on coach Bill Belichick’s staff played a role in hiring Robinson as a Pats area scout in 2002.
Robinson is expected to replace Erick Stokes, who is reportedly joining the staff of Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey, the former Bucs personnel director who went to Miami following Licht’s hiring in January.
In other Bucs news, the team today signed long snapper Andre DePaola and released cornerback Anthony Gaitor.
