LB Casillas signs one-year deal with Bucs

TAMPA — A knee injury brought a premature end to linebacker Jonathan Casillas’ first season with the Buccaneers, but it didn’t bring a premature end to his Buccaneers career.

Casillas, a sixth-year pro who had spent his entire career with the New Orleans Saints before signing a one-year deal with the Bucs last spring, signed a one-year contract to remain with the club Friday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Casillas becomes the second projected Bucs free agent to re-sign with the team, joining third-year running back Bobby Rainey, who signed a one-year deal earlier in the week.

Casillas started four games for the Bucs at strongside linebacker last year, including the Dec. 1 game at Carolina in which he suffered the knee injury that ended his season.
