Bucs place Cody Grimm on injured reserve
TAMPA - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed starting free safety Cody Grimm on injured reserve Wednesday and signed tight end Colin Franklin to their active roster. Grimm went down with a right knee injury midway through the Bucs' 16-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday. Bucs coach Raheem Morris said Corey Lynch and Larry Asante would battle in practice this week for the right to replace Grimm in the starting lineup. This is the second time in as many years that Grimm, a seventh-round pick out of Virginia Tech in 2010, has been placed on IR. He wound up there last year after breaking his left leg in a Week 12 game at Baltimore.Franklin was promoted from the Bucs' practice squad, which he was signed to Sept. 5. The Bucs also announced they have signed center/guard Zane Taylor to their practice squad. Taylor, who played at the University of Utah, entered the NFL this year as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets. The Bucs host the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night at Raymond James Stadium. The game will be televised by ESPN.
