TAMPA — If it's not one thing it's another for Tampa Bay Buccaneers left guard Carl Nicks.
Not to worry, though. The strain of "pox" Nicks is battling is a rare one that afflicts only football players who have spent more time on the sideline than on the playing field the past two years.
“Yeah, I'm just scratching to get back out there,'' Nicks said.
The two-time Pro Bowler will have to scratch a little longer. He's still not ready to return to full-time duty but is confident he'll be back on the field for the start of training camp in late July.
“I'll be ready for training camp,'' Nicks said Tuesday before the Bucs took the field for the start of their first three-day minicamp under new coach Lovie Smith. “That's the plan, and I feel I'll be (ready to go).''
