Bucs Hot Reads: Bucs add RB Hill from Green Bay practice squad

New kid in town

Hit hard by injuries in the backfield, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed rookie RB Michael Hill off Green Bay’s practice squad on Wednesday. Hill entered the league with San Diego as a free agent after becoming the career rushing leader at Missouri Western State, where he ran for 4,969 yards and 35 TDs.

Tampa Bay officially placed rookie RB Mike James on the Injured Reserve list with a fractured ankle suffered against Miami. The sixth-round draft pick out of the University of Miami averaged 4.9 yards on 60 carries this season and was very effective after Doug Martin was lost for the season with a shoulder injury.

By holding the Dolphins to only two yards rushing Monday night, Tampa Bay tied for the sixth-best performance by a rush defense since the 1970 merger.
