'Elvis' To Perform At Benefit For Center

The Hillsborough Achievement & Resource Center, which provides resources, opportunities and advocacy for children and adults with developmental disabilities, will feature Jeremy Ewbank performing Elvis Presley songs from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Riverview Civic Center, 11020 Park Drive.

Food will be available for purchase. Proceeds will help pay for supplies for educational programs.

Tickets are $7; $5 for ages 18 and younger. Seating is limited.

Fairy Tale Ballet Benefits Cancer Center

The Brandon Ballet will perform "Cinderella" at 7:30 p.m. at Blake High School's Performing Arts Theatre, 1701 N. Boulevard, Tampa.

Richard Munro, a cancer survivor, will choreograph the performance. Proceeds will benefit the Lakeland Regional Cancer Center.

Tickets are $20 for reserved floor seats and $15 for balcony seats.

Veterans Park To Host Korean War Demo

Step back in time on another continent when Hillsborough County's Veterans Memorial Park & Museum hosts a re-enactment of the Korean War at 2 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.

The free event will feature a demonstration of small arms and tactics that the U.S. infantry used in the war. The park and museum are at 3602 U.S. 301 N., south of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and the Florida State Fairgrounds.

Visit A Treasury Of Beads And Gems

The Florida Center & Botanical Gardens at the Florida State Fairgrounds will hold a two-day bead and jewelry shopping extravaganza from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Visitors can browse through a huge assortment of beads, gemstones and finished jewelry from around the world, including Japanese seed beads, Swarovski crystal, lampwork beads, Czech glass, pewter beads, kits, tools and more. Admission is free. Parking is $5 for cars and $10 for RVs and buses.

Village Players Present 'Gypsy'

The Village Players, featuring actors Mollie Anderson, Domin Pazo, Gina Giordanno, Maren Julian and Jeremy Stauffer, will perform the Broadway classic "Gypsy," about Gypsy Rose Lee, the archetypical stage mother who pushes her daughters into Vaudeville.

Performances will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and May 16, 17, 23, 24, 30 and 31 at The James McCabe Theatre, 506 Fifth St., Valrico. A matinee will be performed at 3 p.m. May 18. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors.

Music Showcase Holds Spring Festival

The Music Showcase at 402 Oakfield Drive, Brandon, will host its Spring Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17. The event is free.

More than 300 Music Showcase students will perform. There also will be games, food, vendors, face painting, a bounce house and more. Vendor spaces are available.

Wine And Chocolate For A Good Cause

Peterbrooke Chocolate and The Cork & Olive wine shop, two retail businesses at the Lithia Crossing Plaza in Valrico south of Bloomingdale Avenue, will host an open house from 5:30 to 8 p.m. May 20.

Visitors can sample and purchase fine chocolates and a variety of wines.

Ten percent of their proceeds will benefit the Emergency Care Health Organization, a nonprofit agency in Brandon that provides food and clothing for individuals and families in need.
