Legal firm Ogden and Sullivan hosted “An Evening of Champions,” a scholarship fundraiser for Academy Prep on May 8 at the campus, 1407 E. Columbus Drive, with more than 200 people in attendance. Academy Prep does not charge tuition to its students, who are all admitted based on their significant financial need. Thus, events like this allow the school to serve its students.
During the event, WTSP-TV reporter Grayson Kamm served as the emcee. More than $300,000 was raised at the event, with food provided by Carrabba’s Italian Grill and desserts by La Segunda Central Bakery.
“We’re focused on one thing — inspiring our students to become future community leaders through a rigorous and demanding middle school academic and enrichment program, followed by eight years of graduate support to see our kids successfully through high school and college,” said Lincoln Tamayo, the head of the school. “Since we don’t charge tuition, events like this literally fuel our efforts.”
