Tampa firefighter injured after falling through roof of burning home
A firefighter burned his hand when he partially fell through a roof during a fire in South Tampa on Sunday. The firefighter, whose name was not released, was treated at Tampa General Hospital for an injury that was not life-threatening, according to a release from Tampa Fire Rescue.. He was working on the roof of a home at 4209 W. Bay View Ave., where a fire started about 10 a.m. A crew was on the roof, trying to cut a hole to ventilate and contain the fire, when the firefighter began to fall through, according to the release.The firefighter fell through the roof up to his arms but was grabbed by his fire captain before falling into the home, firefighters said. A 46-year-old woman lives in the house but was not home when the fire started. No other injuries were reported.
