Part of South Howard will close for three days in June
SOUTH TAMPA - A two-block stretch of South Howard Avenue will be closed from June 3 through June 6. The portion of road between Watrous Avenue and Southview Avenue will be blocked as construction workers hook up sewer and water lines for the Epicurean Hotel. The hotel, which is scheduled to open at the end of the year, is across South Howard from Bern’s Steakhouse. Drivers and neighbors are encouraged to plan alternative routes ahead of time, said Jean Duncan, city transportation manager. Marjory Avenue will be the only residential road that won’t be open on those days, she said. If all goes according to schedule, the work will be completed before the weekend, typically a busy time on Howard Avenue.“It’s probably good that they are doing their work during the weekdays,” Duncan said.
