Tampa General Hospital expands services to South Shore
RIVERVIEW - Come Aug. 19, area residents will have a new health care option thanks to Tampa General. The not-for-profit hospital is opening a family care center in the Summerfield Plaza, 10647 Big Bend Road, which will serve newborns, seniors and everyone in between. "Tampa General is expanding its primary care footprint," said Sharon Ford, director of ambulatory services. "Until now we've been very localized. But our strategic plan is to provide greater access to our services to communities across Hillsborough County." Within the past year Tampa General has opened primary care centers in Brandon, Carrollwood and South Tampa. Its next will be the Big Bend center, followed this fall by another at 1647 Sun City Center Plaza - across from the Sun City Center Post Office. Details of that location are unavailable. The Big Bend site will have two primary care physicians - Prema Ramsahai, D.O., and Linh Nguyen, M.D. - and their medical office staff, who will offer a full range of services, including physical exams, well-child visits, women's health, chronic disease management, immunizations and more. Medicare, Medicaid and most major insurances will be accepted. For routine care, patients need to make appointments in advance but same-day appointments will be available, Ford said. Hours of hours of operation will be 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. "We want to establish relationships between our doctors and patients from the community," Ford said. "We want to take care of all their health care needs." For further information on Tampa General Hospital, visit www.tgh.org.
