Public information meeting sceduled for Sun City Mobile Home Park

Hillsborough County has scheduled a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday to inform Sun City Mobile Home Park residents of upcoming changes to their drinking water when the community connects to Hillsborough County’s water distribution system later this year. The drinking water provided to residents will be treated with chloramines, rather than chlorine, and kidney dialysis patients and aquarium owners will want to take special precautions.

The park is located in Ruskin, east of U.S. 41 and south of the Little Manatee River. Residents are currently Hillsborough County water customers and receive drinking water from two wells, which are showing signs of possible saltwater intrusion. Earlier this year a $1 million project was begun involving the construction of a new water pipeline from the existing Hillsborough County distribution system at 24th Avenue Southeast and Seventh Street Southwest in Ruskin under the Little Manatee River to the mobile home park.

Public Utilities Department staff will be at the meeting to provide a brief presentation about the new water source and answer questions from residents.

The meeting will take place at the SouthShore Neighborhood Service Center, 201 14th Ave. SE, Ruskin.

For more information about this project, visit the Sun City Mobile Home Park Water Pipeline project page at www.HillsboroughCounty.org/CountyProjects and click on the Water & Sewer Projects link.
