Apollo Beach Elementary School teacher Margit Redlawsk has been named Elementary Art Teacher of the Year by the Hillsborough Art Education Association. Only seven of the 144 elementary art school teachers in Hillsborough County were nominated.

As a district trainer, Redlawsk teaches and mentors other art teachers. She is responsible for creating a program at her school called Family Art Night.

In her spare time Redlawsk paints, and her work is currently being shown in a group exhibit at the SouthShore Regional Library's Crawford Gallery. She also teaches children's art classes at the library.

Veterans are invited to participate in Library of Congress project

The Tampa Bay Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Veterans History Project, a program of the Library of Congress, are seeking veterans to participate in a program that captures through video interviews, firsthand accounts of veterans who served in any branch of the military in any capacity from World War I through the present and are no longer serving. Civilians who served in support of a U.S. war effort in a professional capacity are also welcome to participate.
