Robber shoots at Ruskin hotel clerk; bullet grazes her head
A desk clerk at a Ruskin hotel is recovering after she was grazed in the head by a bullet during a robbery early today, deputies said. Deputies said they received a call about the robbery about 3:30 a.m. at the Ruskin Inn, 3113 College Ave. E. The 32-year-old clerk said she was sitting in the lobby when she received a call from an unidentified male who said he couldn't sleep because of excessive noise outside his hotel room. The clerk told deputies she was confronted by an armed man when she opened the door to the hotel pool area.She told deputies the gunman forced her outside and told her to walk toward a wooded area near the hotel. As she was walking, she heard gunshots and was told to lie down on the ground, deputies said. A bullet grazed her head during the shooting, deputies said. The clerk told deputies she saw the gunman a short time later walk to the front of the hotel and leave with money. She called 911 and was transported to Tampa General Hospital for treatment. The suspect was said to be between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a black mesh cloth over the bottom part of his face, a black hoodie, blue jeans and black gloves.
