Local author touches lives

APOLLO BEACH - Would you tell your story if you knew it would make a difference in someone's life? "I had been diagnosed with stage IV cancer and was told my life would not last long," said Apollo Beach resident Angela Schaefers. "Leaving behind my story was a way for my kids to understand who I was and how I became the person I am through my life experiences." She authored her memoir "Grief to Grace." Her book went on to touch more lives than she ever dreamed possible. "In sharing my own life story, I mistakenly believed that no one would want to hear what I had lived through and had overcome," said Schaefers. "Yet, as I shared my story of living a life of grief to grace, I realized many people wanted and needed to hear about my life challenges and the many blessings despite impossible odds."
And while she continues to share her story, she continues her battle against cancer as well. "Sharing the wisdom I had gained through my challenges was humbling. I realized my purpose was to encourage, inspire and bring hope to many, changing the world one story at a time." Schaefers is now a motivational speaker who shares her story to encourage and inspire others. She also produces and hosts a weekly podcast, Your Story Matters, interviewing people from around the world with amazing stories. As a result, she has penned a new book, "Your Story Matters, You Matter," with another, "Cancer Doesn't Come Wrapped in a Pretty Ribbon," on the way.
