Westshore Yacht Club 'anything but typical'

Mention master-planned community and images of the suburbs usually come to mind, with homes far away from the city. Westshore Yacht Club, a new community in South Tampa, could make you rethink your definition because the community is anything but typical, says Jackie Buckler, vice president of corporate marketing for WCI Communities, developer and builder of Westshore Yacht Club. Among the atypical features of the master-planned community is it's on the shore of Old Tampa Bay, giving residents what few homeowners of new construction can have: year-round spectacular sunsets over the Bay and access to Tampa Bay, the Gulf of Mexico and beyond. Buckler says another plus is location.
"There are few new communities in South Tampa," she says. "We're in historic South Tampa and within five miles of downtown, the West Shore District and St. Petersburg. When complete, the community will include 500 residences, keeping the scale of the neighborhood small while maintaining the master-planned aspect through its amenities, landscape and architecture, she says. Among the amenities is the on-site marina that includes 149 boat slips for vessels from 40 to more than 100 feet. The 19,000-square-foot Bay Club anchors the community with its restaurant, pools, day spa, bar, fitness center and billiards room. A park provides residents with outdoor options for living beyond the water. "In fact, WCI Communities hosts several casual get-togethers throughout the year in the park," Buckler says. "They are wonderful ways for this community's families to gather, share good news and party." Buckler says home styles within the community are many, giving buyers choices to fit any stage in their lives. Westshore Yacht Club includes single-family homes, condos and gulf-front estates. Castillo Tower Condominiums feature three floor plans with 2,000 to 2,600 square feet of living space. "There are unbelievable views in these homes," she says. Residents not only have access to the amenities throughout Westshore Yacht Club, but to the amenities within the 15-story building, including a fitness center, salon, private party facilities, guest suites and a theater with surround sound. Beyond Castillo Tower, the community's largest homes are in Bayfront Estates. These waterfront homes boast 4,500 to more than 6,000 square feet of living space. "At the end of February, we will unveil a fully decorated Bayfront Estate model that will feature the largest home design in the community, with three stories and more than 6,000 square feet," Buckler says. Also available are Boulevard Homes, featuring four bedrooms and 5½ bathrooms in 4,500 to 5,000 square feet of living space. Buyers can choose from five single-family home designs with 1,987 to 2,855 square feet of living space. Three town home floor plans are available, providing 1,674 to 2,311 square feet of living space.
