The driver of a pickup who crashed into a Hillsborough County School District bus died at the scene of the Friday afternoon crash, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
James Allen Flint, 65, of Plant City, was traveling on Sam Allen Road in a 2001 Ford pickup when the crash occurred at 3:50 p.m., the sheriff's office said.
The bus driver, Phyllis Meachum, 66, of Plant City, and three students from Plant City High School were on the bus. The crash occurred at East Sam Allen and Wilder roads.
Two students were transported to South Florida Baptist Hospital with minor injuries and later released to their parents, the sheriff's office said. The other student and bus driver were evaluated at the scene.
Flint, who was driving a pickup with the name of the local farm on the side of the vehicle, was heading east on Sam Allen Road. When he approached the intersection of Wilder Road, Flint failed to stop at the stop sign, the sheriff's office said.
Flint struck the Hillsborough County school bus that was heading south on Wilder Road. The bus overturned from the impact, the sheriff's office said.
Flint's blood-alcohol content is pending the autopsy, the sheriff's office said.
Sheriff's investigators drew blood from Meachum, although there's no indication that she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the sheriff's office said.
