PLANT CITY Boys and girls ages 8 to 13 recently won awards for their basketball skills at an annual contest.
The competitors were judged on dribbling, passing and shooting at the Tri-Star Basketball Skills Contest.
The 41st annual competition was sponsored by the Optimist Club of Plant City and city Recreation and Parks Department.
The top three winners in each age and gender category included:
Gracie Edgemon, first place, 8-year-old girls; and Jay Jaylen, first; Connor Smith, second; and Lazzalo Ford, third, 8-year-old boys.
Harley Hatfield, first place, 9-year-old girls; and Trenton Herring, first; Andrew Smith, second; and James Barnum, third, 9-year-old boys.
Jayna Romera, first place; Jamie Johnson, second; and Nyeisha Barnum, third, 10-year-old girls; and Patrick Connelly, first; David Davenport, second, 10-year-old boys.
Kayla Swinson, first place; Kassidy Bolling, second; and Grace Harris, third, 11-year-old girls; and Gavin Hessler, first; Jack Maguire, second; and Ryan Smith, third, 11-year-old boys.
