Work to start soon on improving drive to Plant City warehouse
PLANT CITY - A project to reconstruct portions of a road serving a huge warehouse will get under way soon, City Engineer Brett Gocka said. The city is using a $726,979 state economic development grant to pay for the work on Gordon Food Service Drive. The road near Plant City Stadium leads to the 1 million square-foot warehouse owned by Gordon Food Service. The project includes the addition of curbing, a center turn lane, storm water enhancements and other work. The city had hoped to have the work finished before now, but it took a while to receive design approval from the Florida Department of Transportation. Once work starts in about a month, it will be completed in about three weeks, he said.
