PLANT CITY The Plant City Police Department is buying 40 clip-on video cameras that will record each officers’ contact with members of the public.
The cameras are small enough to attach to the uniforms of the officers and will record video and sound. Officers will turn them on whenever they have contact with the public, police officials say.
The department is using a nearly $13,000 federal grant to pay for the cameras and related equipment.
The video can be useful in criminal investigations and for evaluating any complaints about an officer’s conduct, police said.
