Plant City Meals On Wheels receives $25,000 gift

PLANT CITY - Meals On Wheels of Plant City, a charity that feeds shut-ins, recently received a sizable donation from an organization that helps the local needy. Mac McKendrick, president of Meals on Wheels, accepted the check for $25,000 from Unity in the Community. Unity is a major sponsor of Meals on Wheels and its mission to feed the homebound. Unity founder Joyce “Jordan” Hooke is a Meals on Wheels board member. “They do an outstanding job helping our community and they depend on donations to survive,” she said.
Unity gave Meals on Wheels $5,000 more than in 2012, Hooke said. For information on Meals On Wheels, call (813) 754-9932.
