Plant City man dies in mom's arms; killer sought
Investigators are appealing for the public's help in the shooting of a 22-year-old man who died in his mother's arms. Jerry Smith, who was staying with his mother at 1320 E. Church St., was taken by Plant City Fire Rescue paramedics to South Florida Baptist Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, Plant City police Sgt. Sherri Stwan said Smith was shot at about 1 a.m. Sunday in the front yard at that address and made it to the door before collapsing, police said.
