PLANT CITY Plant City Community Chorale’s patriotic concert, “A Tribute to Our Heroes,” raised more than $3,500 for a nonprofit that provides housing for families of injured veterans.
There was no admission fee to the June 28 concert but audience members were asked for donations. The money went to the Fisher House Foundation, an organization that provides free housing to families of injured military men and women while hospitalized.
Performing to a full house at First Presbyterian Church of Plant City, the chorale recognized a veteran from each of the four most recent war periods. Photos were shown of such local veterans as Arthur Boring, Roy Parke, Jack Pettis, David Braun, Mark Grdovic, Jody Missildine, Cory Clark and James Phillips.
The concert was produced with sponsor Hopewell Funeral Home. Chorale Executive Director Joyce Nestor presented a check for $3,530 to Linda Townsend, who represented the Fisher House.
