PLANT CITY Some of the city’s most historic residences will be open Saturday during the Spring Tour of Homes.
The tour sponsored by the East Hillsborough Historic Society will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors will meet at the 1914 Plant City High School Community Center, 605 N. Collins St., where they can buy tickets and programs before heading out on the walking tour.
A lunch on the community center’s lawn will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 for the tour only and $23 for the tour and lunch. Lunch only is $8.
Homes on the tour include 805 N. Wheeler St., 909 Roux St., 912 Roux St. and 1000 Roux St. The 1914 community center building will also be open for tours.
Historical Society president and executive director Shelby Bender said that while the group has hosted a tour of homes before, this is the first time daytime tour.
“We thought perhaps it would be a new opportunity to showcase the historic district,” Bender said. “It’s a fundraiser for the historical society and we’re promoting historic preservation.” Bender said there is no specific order arranged for the tour so that visitors can experience the 1914 community center and participating homes at their convenience.
