PLANT CITY Registration is under way for the city’s fifth annual Daddy Daughter Dance.
The dance celebrating the special bond between daughters and their dads, sponsored by the Recreation and Parks Department, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 22.
The registration deadline is Feb. 13.
One of the department’s most popular events, the dance will be held at the John R. Trinkle Center on Hillsborough Community College’s Plant City campus, 1206 N. Park Road.
Recreation Supervisor Jason Hargrove said this year’s dance will have a diamond ball theme and attendees are encouraged to dress formally.
“We hope everyone comes dressed to impress,” he said. “It’s very formal.”
Dads, grandfathers, guardians or anyone who serves as a father figure, can accompany daughters ages 3 and up.
The cost is $30 per couple, with $10 for each additional person. Hargrove said registration covers a free father daughter photo, a drawing ticket and meal, catered this year from Lupton’s Catering.
Hargrove expects a big crowd.
“We had it maxed out last year and this year we’re expecting an even bigger crowd,” he said.
The evening begins with entertainment, followed by a dinner and prize give away, and will close with dancing.
“We know the special bond between fathers and daughters and we just wanted them to come out, have a great time, and create that memory neither one of them will forget,” Hargrove said.
