Congressman names new field director

PLANT CITY A Polk County reserve sheriff’s deputy has been named field director by U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross, whose district includes Plant City.

Erin Killebrew Welch will provide assistance to the Lakeland Republican and his constituents across the district, which includes parts of Polk and Hillsborough counties.

Welch has a bachelor of arts in criminology from the University of South Florida and worked as a sheriff’s deputy for six years. The last year, she has been U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney’s field representative for Hillsborough, Polk and Manatee counties. She retains her reserve deputy status in Polk.

Ross said in a statement that her knowledge of Polk and Hillsborough counties made her a good choice for the job.
