PLANT CITY – The Pregnancy Care Center of Plant City highlighted some of its services at an annual fundraiser that brought in $11,000.
About 270 guests were in attendance for the Life is Sweet Luncheon at Plant City’s First Baptist Church. Executive Director Darlene Davis and her staff members and volunteers used the occasion to showcase some of the services the agency provides to the community.
“Everyone had a great time and hopefully they went away knowing a little more about our center and how they can be involved,” she said. The center, at 304 N. Collins St., offers pregnancy tests, parenting classes and additional services free to clients.
The Feb. 8 luncheon was organized by volunteer Connie Gerbasi, and her daughter, Ashlyn Gerbasi, who is on staff as a client advocate.
Each table hostess designed a theme for her table and invited up to 10 guests. The luncheon included a silent auction of items donated by individuals and businesses.
Special music was provided by Edensong and a video about the center was presented, which included photos of clients. The center’s volunteer medical director, Dr. Peter Alvarez of Lakeland, was the featured speaker.
