Plant City teenager killed in Lakeland crash
PLANT CITY A 19-year-old Plant City man was killed when a truck driven by his mother overturned in Lakeland, officials said. Travis Kinkade, 7311 Paul Buchman Highway, was killed about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Polk County sheriff's deputies said. Deputies said Kinkade was a passenger in a 1998 Chevrolet pickup with a 12-inch lift kit installed on it that was traveling westbound on Swindell Road. The truck, driven by 37-year-old Brenda White entered a 90-degree turn at a high rate of speed and overturned, throwing out her son, who was not wearing a seatbelt, deputies said.The truck landed on top of him. White, who lived at the same address as her son, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening. Another passenger in the truck, 19-year-old Dustin Johnson of 4022 Peek St., Mango, was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said. The investigation is continuing and speed appears to be a factor in this crash, deputies said.
