Toddler in stable condition after fall at Tropicana Field
ST. PETERSBURG - A 2½-year-old boy was rushed to Bayfront Hospital tonight after falling 15 feet from temporary stands at Tropicana Field, site of the East-West Shrine Game, St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue reported. The child, who was not named, was conscious and alert, said Fire and Rescue spokesman Lt. Joel Granata. "The paramedics said he was crying, which is a good sign," Granata said. Shortly before 7 p.m., the child somehow got away from whomever he was with and fell from a gap in the stands between seats, said Granata.Because of the distance of the fall, and his age, the child initially was declared a trauma alert, but was in stable condition at the hospital, said Granata. The West team defeated the East squad 28-13 in the college all-star football game.
