Tampa man arrested in N.Y. state on attempted murder charge
A Tampa man was arrested in New York state and will be returned to Florida to face attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly shot at another man at a Pinellas Park apartment building, Pinellas Park police said. According to police, about 4:14 a.m. Tuesday, the victim was standing on a second-floor balcony at Runaway Bay Apartments, 4701 88th Ave. N., when a man got out of a vehicle and fired a handgun multiple times at him. No injuries were reported, and the gunman fled the area. Investigators were able to identify the suspect as Daniel Damien Arocho Soto, 26, 5902 Memorial Highway, Apt. 513. Detectives also learned that Soto likely fled to the Yonkers, N.Y., area, where he has relatives. About noon today, law enforcement in Yonkers located Soto at a relative's residence. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held by authorities awaiting extradition back to Florida.Investigators said they think the incident is domestic related and stems from a recent breakup with an ex-girlfriend who was present at the apartment during the shooting. The case remains under investigation.
