St. Petersburg mother faces child abuse charge
A St. Petersburg mother was arrested on an aggravated child abuse charge Tuesday morning, a month after she and her husband brought their then-49-day-old son to All Children’s Hospital with a fractured leg, two fractured ribs and a skull fracture. Tara Brown, 33, caused the leg fracture on March 12 – a day before she and her husband Richard brought the boy to the hospital, according to St. Petersburg police. The other injuries were older and already healing by then, a police report states. The boy, who was admitted to the hospital, is expected to make a full recovery. He was placed in the care of his grandmother, St. Petersburg police spokesman Mike Puetz said. His twin sister did not suffer any injuries, Puetz said. She also was placed with her grandmother.Police did not arrest Richard Brown.
