A St. Petersburg man died Tuesday night when he lost control of his pickup and was ejected on Interstate 275 in Tampa, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
About 8:44 p.m., David Michael Reyes, 28, was northbound in the outside lane of I-275 west of West Shore Boulevard when he lost control of his 2006 Ford F-150, the patrol said. He then drove across the highway to the inside lane.
Reyes then overcorrected and the pickup went back across all three lanes, left the interstate, drove onto the grass shoulder and struck a concrete wall, FHP said. The truck then collided with a road sign and overturned several times, and he was ejected from the truck.
Reyes was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa where he died, FHP said.
