A man crossing a St. Petersburg street was struck by a car Tuesday morning and hospitalized with serious injuries, police said.
The man, about age 50, was walking in the crosswalk north across Fifth Avenue North at 25th Street carrying a bag of groceries, police said. At 11:23 a.m., he was struck by a westbound Nissan Altima, with the impact flipping him onto the windshield, then falling to the road, police said.
The pedestrian was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, police said.
The man driving the Nissan and his wife, who was a passenger, sustained minor injuries and were treated by paramedics at the scene, police said.
The names of those involved were not released.
