An Ohio woman died Saturday evening when she fell out of the electric vehicle driven by her husband on Gulf Boulevard in Redington Beach, authorities said.
Patricia Taylor, 68, of Doylestown, Ohio, was a passenger in a 2002 Gem, a small electric vehicle that resembles a golf cart, just before 6 p.m. when she fell out as her husband, Larry Taylor, 68, made a left turn onto 162nd Avenue.
Pinellas County sheriff’s deputies said the couple was heading south on Gulf Boulevard when he attempted the turn. Patricia Taylor struck her head on the pavement and was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.
Patricia Taylor was not wearing a seat belt, deputies said. Her husband was wearing a seat belt, deputies said.
The incident resulted in the closure of Gulf Boulevard until about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
