Motorcyle crashes into patrol car in Palm Harbor
A Tarpon Springs man was thrown from his motorcycle after crashing into a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office patrol car in Palm Harbor this morning, deputies said. Deputy Travis Sibley was slowing to make a U-turn in his unmarked patrol car on U.S. 19 near Georgia Avenue, shortly after midnight, when Martin McFadden, 23, tried to pass him in the center turn lane on his 2001 Honda motorcycle, deputies said. That’s when McFadden, who was wearing a helmet, struck the patrol car’s rear quarter panel, deputies said. McFadden was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said. Sibley was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, but the sheriff’s office says alcohol appears to have been a factor. Charges are pending in the case, deputies said.
