Search resumes for missing boater near Fort De Soto
Pinellas County deputies have resumed their search for a 49-year-old man who they say went missing Sunday from his watercraft near Fort De Soto Park. After postponing their search due to lack of visibility, rescue officials have resumed the search this morning for Michael Douglas Rhine, of Pinellas Park. Pinellas County deputies say Rhine, boating at Bunces Pass near Fort De Soto Park around 4:30 p.m., fell overboard after his boat developed engine trouble. Deputies say Rhine attempted to fix the outboard motor but fell overboard and did not resurface.Deputies were joined by the Florida Fish and Wildlife conducted an immediate air and sea search until 11 p.m., and resumed early this morning, according to a news release. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation continues.
