Largo woman accused of killing kitten
LARGO A 27-year-old Largo woman was arrested this morning and accused of throwing a kitten against a wooden fence with such force the animal died immediately, according to an arrest affidavit. Shontia Niree James faces one count of felony animal cruelty. She is being held at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. At roughly 2:20 a.m. this morning, James walked out of her apartment at 2770 Roosevelt Blvd., picked up a 15-week-old kitten sitting in a grassy area a few feet from her front door and threw it into a wooden fence, the affidavit states. James was within an arm's length of the fence when she hurled the feline at it. James' arrest report does not say why she threw the cat or whether she knew the animal.
