U.S. Rep. David Jolly was sworn into his new seat Thursday in Washington, D.C.
He now officially represents Florida’s 13th Congressional District, an office that was occupied for four decades by Jolly’s former boss, the late Rep. C.W. Bill Young.
The afternoon ceremony punctuated the close of a contentious special election cycle in which Jolly faced Democrat Alex Sink and Libertarian Lucas Overby.
Jolly is serving out Young’s term, and plans to run for the office again in the November midterm elections.
