Fourth person arrested in St. Pete teen prostitution case
Pinellas County sheriff’s detectives have arrested a fourth person in the case of a 15-year-old girl who was forced into prostitution. Ashley Rose Clark, 19, described as a transient, was arrested Tuesday during a disturbance call, deputies said. She has been charged with one count each of procuring a minor for prostitution and deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution. Clark paid for the motel rooms and set up ads on Backpage.com, and she and the victim would engage in prostitution, deputies said. The victim would then pay Clark after each sexual encounter with a client. During an interview, deputies said, Clark admitted to assisting the victim with prostitution and receiving a monetary benefit from the acts. After staying with Clark, deputies said the victim was introduced to Donell O. Jenkins, 21, who along with Antron Smith, 30, and Stacey Jo Bumgarner, 28, forced her to continue prostitution. Each faces one count of procuring a minor for prostitution, deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution and renting space to be used for prostitution. The investigation is continuing.
