If you were about to grab a coat and head to downtown St. Petersburg for the monthly First Friday block party on Central Avenue tonight — not so fast.
This month’s party has been canceled, apparently due to the frigid temperatures.
An update posted around 1 p.m. on the City of St. Petersburg Facebook page reads, “Because of the cold weather, tonight’s First Friday St. Pete event has been canceled. Join us February 7th for another great event!”
The event, which normally runs from 5:30 to 10 p.m., probably would have experienced temperatures in the mid 40s.
That would have felt downright balmy to much of the country.
For perspective, the forecasted temperature for Boston tonight is 4 degrees, New York City is 11 degrees and Burlington, Vermont will be 6 degrees below zero.
