Embrace the love at Free Hugs Fest in St. Petersburg Saturday
If you've ever wanted to hug a stranger, an MLB mascot, or possibly even the mayor, St. Petersburg has you covered this weekend. The second annual Free Hugs Fest starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, when volunteers holding signs that read "free hugs" will be stationed throughout downtown to give embraces to anyone who wants them. Among the huggers will be St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster, and Raymond the Tampa Bay Rays mascot, who are kicking off the love fest by giving out hugs at the Saturday Morning Market at Progress Energy Park at 189 Second Ave. S.E. in St. Petersburg. A map of all the free hug stations is available here. The event is organized by the St. Petersburg small business alliance Keep St. Petersburg Local. Volunteers still interested in signing up to be huggers can visit their page at signupgenius.com/go/20F0B49AFA929A31-free.
