Driver crashes into Hooters in Clearwater
A 40-year-old woman is in custody after she tried to commit suicide early Sunday by crashing into a Hooters restaurant in Clearwater. The woman had been at Razzel's Lounge, 2794 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd., and talked to others about wanting to end her life, according to Clearwater police. She then got into her car about 3:21 a.m., accelerated out of the parking lot and crashed into the west side of the Hooters at 2800 Gulf-to-Bay. She suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. Damage to the restaurant was minor, with a broken fence, damage to a staircase and a hole in the wall, police said. Hooters was closed at the time. Police took the woman into custody under the Baker Act.
