Clearwater plane crash victim out of hospital, attends vigil

The third victim of a Clearwater plane crash on March 22 has been released from the hospital and attended a candlelight vigil in the Chicago area Sunday night for the pilot and his daughter.

According to the Chicago Daily Herald, 15-year-old Keyana Linbo attended the service in Round Lake for her friend, 15-year-old Katie Bronken, and Bronken’s father, Jeffrey Bronken, 53.

Linbo was released from St. Joseph’s Hospital and returned home on Sunday. She planned to watch the vigil from her family’s car, but stood alongside hundreds who gathered for the candlelight vigil, the Daily Herald reported.

Jeffrey Bronken was killed on March 22 while en route to St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport for a spring break trip with his daughter and Linbo.

Bronken reported a fuel emergency and attempted a forced landing before clipping power lines and nose-diving onto McMullen-Booth Road, about seven miles north of the airport, according to a preliminary report released by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Jeffrey Bronken died at the scene, and Katie Bronken died on Wednesday.

All three were from Round Lake, about 40 miles northwest of Chicago.

Sunday’s vigil was organized by students at Grant High School, which Katherine attended.

A wake was held Monday at the Cultural and Civic Center in Round Lake Beach and a funeral will be held today at St. Bede Church in Ingleside.
