Clearwater man plummets from atop Johns Pass garage
A 31-year-old Clearwater man was seriously injured early Friday after plummeting about seven floors from atop the Johns Pass garage, deputies said. Nicholas Voutsinas, of 2930 Pine Cone Circle, No. 3, sustained multiple fractures to his face, legs and pelvis, deputies said. He was hospitalized in serious but stable condition. Deputies said Voutsinas had been drinking alcohol, and it was not clear if he fell or jumped. Deputies responded just after midnight to a report of an injured man who had fallen from the garage, at 177 Boardwalk Place in Madeira Beach.According to deputies, Voutsinas and a friend had climbed up to a restricted roof area to get a better view of the city. The friend decided to come down while Voutsinas remained. Deputies said that by the time the friend reached the ground floor, Voutsinas was unconscious in the road. Voutsinas was transported by air to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. The case is still under investigation.
