Clearwater Beach commuters can expect delays today as crews continue filming “Dolphin Tale 2.”
Clearwater police say traffic along Memorial Causeway will be impacted between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., with the most significant delays after 2 p.m.
The filming will impact traffic to and from Clearwater Beach. Police suggest drivers take the Belleair Causeway instead.
Traffic on beach roads and on Court Street — the roads leading to the Memorial Causeway — also may be affected, police say.
The film, a sequel to 2011’s “Dolphin Tale,” brought notoriety to the tale of “Winter,” a stranded dolphin who was rescued in 2005 and fitted with a prosthetic tail at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
Crews have been shooting scenes for the sequel, which stars Harry Connick Jr., Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Nathan Gamble and Kris Kristofferson, since November. Filming also has taken place on Clearwater Beach, Fort De Soto, and at the aquarium.
