20-month-old boy dies after falling into St. Pete pool Nov. 8
A 20-month-old boy who was in critical condition since falling into a St. Petersburg pool Nov. 8 died Thursday. Luke Leavengood got out of his home in the 1900 block of Hawaii Avenue Northeast through an unsecured door while a nanny was caring for him, police said at the time. The nanny pulled him from the next-door neighbor's pool and called 911. The boy was taken to All Children's Hospital, where he died, said Mike Puetz, spokesman for St. Petersburg police."I already tearfully and terribly miss you, Luke, and pretend neither to understand the Lord's plan nor his timing," Luke's father, Ian Leavengood, wrote on a Facebook page. "I will, however, ceaselessly pray for you and never give up. We will meet again, son. That, I promise you." Police do not anticipate any criminal charges in the case, Puetz said.
