Zephyrhills Motorcyclist Dies In Pasco Crash
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash on State Road 54 in Pasco County that shut down both lanes for several hours Thursday. Benjamin Mower, 19, of Zephyrhills died at the scene near Loury Drive after a truck turned into his path of his motorcycle, the highway patrol said. This is what happened about 6:30 p.m., according to the highway patrol: Mower was riding a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle west on S.R. 54. As traffic in front of him slowed down, he began passing cars using the eastbound lane.A 2007 Isuzu truck driven by Gary Frye Jr. of Lakeland was in the westbound lane, in front of Mower. Frye was turning left onto Loury Drive and into Mower's path. Mower tried to brake, but his motorcycle overturned. The front of the motorcycle crashed into the truck and Mower was thrown off the motorcycle. Frye was not hurt in the crash.
