Wind damage reported in Forest Lake Estates
ZEPHYRHILLS - A storm with high winds caused minor damage to two homes at Forest Lake Estates on Tuesday afternoon. Wind peeled the rubber covering off a roof at 6049 Jessup Drive. The covering was in the yard Wednesday morning. The home is owned by Pat and Dianne Langan, according to property records. The Langans, who are Canadian, are not currently living at the home, neighbors said. A home at 6050 Presidential Circle, owned by Forest Lake Estates Co Op, had damage to the roof of a storage unit. The damaged homes have adjoining backyards. Kay Johnson, who lives across the street, said she saw the wind take the rubber covering off the Langans' house. She said the wind did minor damage to her home, too. She said she looked out a window and saw a "big, gray, within, black cloud," and it "sounded like a train but not so loud." Zephyrhills Fire Chief Verne Riggall said there were reports of high winds, loud roaring noises and tornadolike damage in and around Zephyrhills but no confirmation of a tornado from weather officials.
