Student, 13, charged with attacking teacher at Pasco school
NEW PORT RICHEY - A 13-year-old student at a school that serves juvenile offenders and other at-risk teenagers has been charged with attacking one of his teachers, the New Port Richey Police Department reported. The Hudson youth was arrested Thursday on a charge of battery on a school employee after he was accused of choking a teacher at AMIKids Pasco, a nonprofit organization that serves as an alternative school for troubled young people. He was taken to the Pasco County Juvenile Assessment Center. The boy was fighting with another student in their classroom Thursday morning when the teacher stepped between them, an arrest report said.The boy, who is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 240 pounds, put the teacher in a chokehold and cut off her airway, the report said. He continued to choke the teacher, the report said, until other students came to her aid and physically removed him.
