A 28-year-old man is charged with burglary, arson and resisting arrest after he lit a fire in his victim’s Zephyrhills home early Saturday morning, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded to a burglary call at 5102 Court St. shortly after midnight and confronted Edward Glenn. That’s when deputies say Glenn barricaded himself inside a bedroom and started a fire.
Deputies entered the bedroom, where Glenn resisted arrest and had to be tazered, the sheriff’s office said. After Glenn was handcuffed he continued resisting by kicking and biting, the sheriff’s office said.
Glenn was transported to an undisclosed hospital where he was sedated in order to stop his fighting, the sheriff’s office said.
The person who lived in the home was able to exit safely before deputies arrived and was waiting at a neighbor’s house.
The sheriff’s office did not release information about where Glenn lives, or how badly the home may have been damaged by the fire.
